Verhaeren's tomb
Sint Amands is a small village on the beautiful border of the Schelde river between
Dendermonde and Bornem.
The famous poet Emile Verhaeren (1855-1916) was born in Sint Amands.
The Verhaeren museum, his tomb and several statues on the banks of the Schelde attract many tourists.
Visitors of Sint Amands can enjoy several plates of eel, the local culinary speciality,
in one of the many taverns and restaurants.
